"My boss said I was fired for one call off, and then was shocked quit and didn't even give 2 weeks notice"

I was working as a part-time cashier as a grocery chain. One day I had some medical problems and had to call off or risk blacking out at work. When I called and said I couldn't make it the manager started screaming at me and said that I was unreliable and that he would be replacing me. He stated several

times that I was going to be replaced and fired. So I said if this is how it's going to work when I call off for a legit reason then I will not be working there anymore. I wrote down that I would be working 2 more days then quiting and turned it in. He

was shocked and couldn't understand why. He made a pouty face and said he liked working with me. Then he saw that it wasn't a 2 week notice and got angry again. They never took me off the schedule and claimed that I never turned in my notice.

MNcrazygirl Wow, what an a hole. Sounds kind of like one of my old managers but without an angry part. I rarely get sick, but when I do, I'm usually sick for the full 7 days. Back in 2022, I got sick with a cold. Tried to call out the night before but was told I had to wait until morning. ASD calls me back and asks me not to call in because I was needed, and I

would be hurting us by having 1 less person and who knows, maybe I'd be feeling better by morning (I wasn't). I went to work sick the next couple days and was just miserable.

justisme333 This is often the case when they threaten termination. Just call their bluff. Who else is going to go work for them? It takes time to train a new person and finding cover is hard. 'I won't be in today due to x'

'Incoherent screams and threats' The weekly roster doesn't get changed, you go in and work whatever shifts. If no shifts available, start looking elsewhere. Never quit. If they want to fire you, let them, then claim unemployment.

No_Arugula8915 You were fired and he was mad you didn't keep working there? Sounds like he really needs to learn words have meaning and they come with consequences.

Imaginary_Ball_... Not your boss anymore. Aren't you happy

MarathonRabbit... Lol "they claimed you never turned in notice". Hey, you got fired. No notice needed. What are you gonna do, give them a note saying you won't be at work because they fired you?

Kjdking78 adjusting schedules and finding someone to fill a call out is HIS job, that's why hes the boss, this is HIS responsibility. He is just upset that he has to now put in effort to either find a replacement or cover your shift himself.

He wants the extra money for being in charge and being a leader but does not want the responsibility that comes with it. sorry, not sorry.,,,,(~~),,|,,
