Grocery store employee quits with 2 days' notice after boss screams that he'll replace them: 'Just call their bluff'

Instead of getting a full 14 days to replace this grocery store worker, their boss is now scrambling to find someone in just 2 days. He could've done things the easy way, but nope! He wanted to act out, and he soon discovered how that plays out with employees who know how to stand up for themselves. 

You can't boss around any worker who has a strong backbone and a lot of self-respect. So many bosses just aren't good communicators: they're stuck with this old-school logic that the louder you are, the more respected you are. That's just not the case! Being louder doesn't make you more correct, it just makes you wrong at top volume. 

There are just very few cases where screaming at an employee is necessary, anyway. If your worker is about to step into a large green vat of boiling acid Bugs Bunny style, go ahead and warn them by screaming your lungs out. But for ordinary workplace situations, like finding out a grocery store employee can't make it into work because they're sick, using your loud voice won't make a difference at all. You can't holler at an employee until they're magically feeling better. By screaming, you're just acting like a baby, while also demonstrating to that employee exactly how childishly you handle these situations.

    'Incoherent screams and threats' The weekly roster doesn't get changed, you go in and work whatever shifts. If no shifts available, start looking elsewhere. Never quit. If they want to fire you, let them, then claim unemployment.

    Kjdking78 adjusting schedules and finding someone to fill a call out is HIS job, that's why hes the boss, this is HIS responsibility. He is just upset that he has to now put in effort to either find a replacement or cover your shift himself.
